cake decorating (continued)...

This is the cake I did for my sister-in-law Lindsey in October 2003. Very simple and elegant. It was the third wedding cake that I did. I haven't had any family get married since then, so I've been off the hook now for a while!

Love it. If I can get Mark to ask me to marry him again and if I could wedge myself into my wedding dress will you make us a cake? Actually forget me wedging into my dress, I think that would be asking to much.

It is beautiful! I wish that was something I could do. I'm with Emily, I would marry Eric again so you could make me a pretty cake!

Thanks for all of the positive comments, you all really are too kind. :) Amy - as for the pearly look to the cake, part of it was the lighting in the room, but I'm pretty sure that I sprinkled edible glitter all over the cake. It really catches the light. Just another quick note, you might have noticed that the top tier is slightly crooked. I learned a very important lesson that day, although you probably don't need me to tell you. :) Always be very precise when cutting your support dowels for each tier. We were in such a panic that morning that I asked someone else to cut them for me (a seemingly simple task, I know), but I didn't check to make sure they were all even before I put them in. By the time I realized that 1 was just slightly longer than the others, it was too late. Normally I might not have cared so much, but on a wedding cake I was mortified. I couldn't stop thinking about it all night long!

So funny, I didn't even notice the top layer until you pointed it out...so true that our mistakes are giant & glaring when others hardly notice them. But the smashed Sponge Bob was pretty hard not to notice.
I honestly need to learn about dowels & all of that because I never have. I kind of just do my own thing, so I definitely need to read up on techniques, etc. E-mail me, if you will, I actually have some questions for you. amhend@hotmial.com
