loose tooth
On Thursday night Derrick discovered that he has his first loose tooth! He is pretty excited, and to be honest, so am I. Despite the fact that it is yet another sign that he is growing up, it is something that he has been looking forward to for a while now so I am happy for him. The last two days have seen frequent updates on how loose the tooth is, several wiggle tests, guessing games as to how long it will take to come out, and Abbie's realization that he can put it under his pillow and the tooth fairy will bring him a penny! (I'm thinking that the tooth fairy will probably be a little more generous.) That then sparked a debate about whether or not the tooth fairy is a boy (like in The Santa Clause 2) or a girl (like in American Dragon: Jake Long), which then reminded me that my children watch TOO MUCH television.

How exciting! I remember being elated when I lost a tooth. I could hardly wait to wake up the next morning.
How old is he? I've never thought of this scenario yet. My nephew just lost two teeth this week. He's 5. It took me by surprise to hear about it. Growing up is too, too fast!
Derrick just turned 6 years old. He has several friends that are younger that have already lost teeth, so he has been pretty anxious about it. It turns out that the tooth right next to it is loose now, too. I hope they don't all fall out at once!
